XYZ Racing S13 – Repco Pro Drift Tour Wrap Up

Woooow, what a day!!!!

The first round of the Stadium Drift Pro Tour went off with a bang on the weekend with a host of new cars and drivers making the journey to Queensland Raceway.

It was the first event for myself and the Performance Suspension XYZ s13 drift car and from the outset we knew it would be a testing day, but what I didn’t realize is how much fun it would be. Sure we didn’t win, nor probably win any battles, but I was impressed with how much potential the car has.

From the first practice run I knew that the s13 was on struggle street in the HP department, with the car, more or less, being unable to hold a 3rd gear slide…. It took a bit to get the hang of but by the end of the day, I succumbed to the fact that I would be stuck in 2nd for the majority of the run (>_<)

Never mind that, I was having an absolute ball. The car was getting some crazy lock and the XYZ brakes, well I can’t speak highly enough of them. I have never driven a car with so much stopping power. I think I will need a set of these on my s14 A.S.A.P.

Big thank you goes out to Chris’s father, David Jones from Performance Suspension for providing the car and assistance on the day… Unfortunately we will be unable to make the next Stanthorpe and Wakefield Rounds, but the car will be back out for the second Stanthorpe round in July.. In the meantime we will more than likely be entering the Archerfield Drift and short track series…

Cup Cars – Morgan Park

Circuit S15 Silvia….

This thing was pushing hard at Morgan Park 2 weeks back… Very interested to know more about it.

Shiroi Usagi Race Team????????

Over the past 6 months I have slowly be making my s14 more street friendly so I could actually enjoy it in-between track days rather than it just sitting in my garage collecting dust. I have always had up’s & down’s with track practice days vs track competition vs street, but with the car now street-able, the enjoyment of having a 3-4 hour (*responsible*) touge run is starting to make much more sense..

I have been saving a tonne of money by doing this but the desire for competition just won’t go away. So what’s the answer?

Start stripping the s14 again? Add more aero? Chase more power?

I drove to Willowbank on the weekend seeking answers and I found myself at the Ipswich Kart Clubs track day and I have got to say, it looked tight, competitive and super fun… Could this be the start of another adventure?

WTAC – Scorch s15

Scorch Racing for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Ok I am biased. I love Silvias so obviously I was going to be watching this car closely, but that aside, this guy is nuts!!!!!

Sure he didn’t have the most “technically advanced” car on the track, but the thing that impressed me the most was his attitude. While most of the top teams would do 1, maybe 2 hot laps Suzuki-san was having the time of his life trashing the living shit out of his s15… And with a best time of 1:31.4560, he had the times to match his enthusiasm.

Add this to the simple design of his car, it is defiantly something the local, slower teams should be taking note of.

Wish 180sx

Chokichi’s old 180sx was a seriously cool car. Until it was written off anyway :(
