WARNING: Broken Links – ImageShack are A’Holes

To the 1 or 2 regular readers of shiroiusagi.com, you may notice a fair few broken picture links on the site over the next couple of weeks…

Turns out Imageshack limits the number of photos you can upload to 500…..and I have kind of gone over that with around 2,500.

Thankfully they have given me a week to get my shit in order before they go on a deleting rampage, so I have started transferring everything to photobucket which has a size limit, rather than file limit.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please pass on any complaints to complaints@gofuckyourself.com and the shiroisuagi team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Porsche Car Club Event 2 – Morgan Park pt.1

Event 2 of the Porsche Car Club 2012 motorsport calendar was a first for me, being my first club event and the first time driving Morgan Park.

The day started out fairly ordinary with me rushing like a mad man trying to change the s14’s street wheels & tyres over to my track wheels and sticky tyres, only to discover during the warm-up lap that wider grip tyres were seriously scrubbing. I have no idea why I continually insist on changing things at the track as it always bits me in the arse and this occasion was no exception with me having to forgo the first session to make further rear end adjustments.

After sorting out my straight line smoke screen issue, the s14 was running sweet. Sure it is slow and non inspiring, but it just goes round and round without a hitch so I can drive it flat all day. Something that would never happen with the old s14.

Time wise, I managed consistent 1:15’s (1:15.3 pb) which I am semi happy about. I really wanted to drop another second but I just couldn’t get any more out of the old girl.

Anyway, the Porsche Club ran what I would consider, the most organised, well run sprint day that I have ever attended. The members were welcoming (even to a beat up Silvia owner) and the track time plentiful, so I have decided to pencil in the whole session into my motorsport calendar.

がいじん s14 – weekend blast (“o^)/

The Gram Lights where out again this weekend at the Porsche Car Club’s Sprint day at Morgan Park…

So much fun trying to force a s14 hack to go as fast as possible around a track when all it wants to do is slide… Will be back out next month for their Mt Cotton hill climb.

Building a Drift Car Part 3 – Making it Stop

Overkill? Maybe, but why the hell not?

The XYZ drift car has brakes and surprise surprise, it will be using XYZ 8 pot pistons and calipers up front and R33 skyline on the rear.

Ok the skyline part is a bit of a surprise but they will be updated to XYZ gear in the near future..

An XYZ hydro brake has also been installed so things are looking up in the stopping department.

Alpinestars for the win

My new Alpinestars SP race suit arrived last night and I have got to say I am super impressed.

Hopefully I will never need the protection but if I do, I am glad to have a quality suit to keep me warm (pun intended).

Shout out to Shannon from Monza Imports, the Australian distributor of Alplinestars. Awesome bro.

Building a Drift Car Part 2 – Making it Low

The XYZ s13 drift car is coming along nicely, but unfortunately not fast enough.
The aim was to have the car ready in a basic form for the first meet of 2012 at Archerfield last Sunday, but right now, just getting the car rolling again would be a huge achievement.

Low was this weekends task with the rear sub frame being removed, solid mounted and raised with camber, toe and traction arms installed.

Chris was also counting front LCA’s in his sleep and wanted to rework the basic “extended” design by adding, what I guess I could describe as a raised section at the pillow ball. Apparently this should make life awesome.

I went nuts with my guard roller so hopefully, this weekend the car will be rolling around again.
